Term IV: Curriculum Design
Citizenship: What Does It Mean to Be a Good Citizen?
I have designed a two-week unit around the theme of citizenship. This unit integrates both literacy and social studies. In literacy students will study characters and practice drawing inferences about character traits. In social studies students will learn about their rights and responsibilities as citizens of their classroom community. At the end of the unit they will write their own personal citizenship pledge, choosing a trait that they want to work hard to become more of in order to better contribute to the classroom community. With freedom comes responsibility. - Eleanor Roosevelt |
